Dusman was born in Derry Church in 1927. Started working part-time in the chocolate factory in 1943 while in high school. Worked in knock-out then the lab, retired in 1980. Recalls teenage labor law, hiring process and availability of workers during World War II. Describes training, work, lunch and hours. Talks about safety, sanitation, maintenance, work clothing; supervisors, pay and benefits. Remembers the strikes (1937, 1953) but wasn’t part of the union. Describes her social activities, trolley travel, the impact of community growth and local schools. Discusses her husband’s job as a Hershey Chocolate dairy inspector.
